Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MyPetAlert collects, uses, and protects information when you use mypetalert.org and the MyPetAlert service. By using our site and service, you consent to this policy.
Information We Collect
- Account and contact details: your name, email, mailing/shipping address, and phone number.
- Pet profiles: pet name, species, breed, age, medical and feeding notes, and veterinarian — used to help an emergency caregiver care for your pet.
- Emergency caregiver details: the name, phone, email, and relationship of the caregiver(s) you designate.
- Service data: your 12-digit MyPetAlert identifier, activation status, membership and renewal status, and emergency-contact activity.
- Payment information: processed securely by our payment processor (Stripe). MyPetAlert does not store full payment-card numbers.
- Usage and cookies: standard log data and cookies to operate and improve the site.
How We Use Information
- To provide the service: activate kits, maintain your emergency plan, and — if your identifier is used in an emergency — alert your designated caregiver.
- To process purchases, memberships, and annual renewals, and to provide support.
- To send service and account notices, and (with your consent) occasional updates. You can opt out of marketing at any time.
Text Messages and Phone Calls (SMS/Voice Consent)
With your consent, MyPetAlert and its messaging provider (Twilio) may contact you and your designated caregiver by text message and phone call for emergency caregiver alerts and important service notices. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts and HELP for help. Opting out of emergency-related messages may limit the service’s ability to reach your caregiver.
How We Share Information
- Service providers who help us operate (e.g., payment processing by Stripe, messaging by Twilio, website hosting and store services) under confidentiality obligations.
- Your designated caregiver and, during an emergency, the person who initiates your prearranged plan — this is the core purpose of the service.
- When required to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of our members, the public, or MyPetAlert.
We do not sell your personal information.
Your Choices and Rights
You may access, correct, or delete your account information, manage communication preferences, and request a copy or deletion of your personal data by contacting info@mypetalert.org. Depending on your state, you may have additional rights (such as under the California Consumer Privacy Act). We may retain limited records as needed to service transactions, comply with law, and keep accurate records.
Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit (TLS), to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Cookies
We use cookies to operate the site, remember preferences, and understand site usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect site features.
Children’s Privacy
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
